The shift toward employing contractors, offshore teams, and BPOs brings valuable flexibility but also presents significant challenges for IT leaders. Many struggle to determine the best approach to support these workers securely and efficiently. Three primary methods are prevalent: some companies allow contractors to use their own devices freely, but this can create security risks. Others ship company-provided devices worldwide, which incurs logistical difficulties, particularly when sending hardware to remote locations. The final approach is limiting contractors to company data through Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) or Desktop as a Service (DaaS), a method that requires high levels of sophistication, incurs high costs, and often proves unscalable.
